The Manchester United Under-13 squad will be travelling to Malta from June 2-5 as the special guests of the KHS U-13 Cup.
The Cup, to be held in collaboration between local football club Swieqi United and football camp organisers Know How Soccer (KHS), will feature eight youth teams, seven of which will be Maltese clubs, and will take place at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun.
In a statement on Wednesday, Swieqi United said the event will be “the first of a series of international tournaments the club will be organising over the next few years – putting Malta on the sport tourism map”.
The event will be supported by the Manchester United Supporter’s Club Malta and Visit Malta. This is not the first Maltese collaboration with the Manchester club since the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) signed a deal in 2019 to become the club’s destination partner for the following three years. Previous attempts to bring over players from the club for training camps have been hampered by COVID-19, thus making this the first successful effort.
While it will be the club’s youth team who will be landing on Maltese shores, it will be a welcomed visit to the country with the oldest Man. Utd supporters club in the world.
