Depiro BC announced their latest signing for their women’s team on Wednesday when they confirmed Australian forward Casey Samuels as part of their squad.
The former Sydney University Flames player was on the books of WNBL 1 side the Canberra Capitals until February when she was cut from the team after an off-the-court incident in Queensland.
However, she then joined the Gold Coast Rollers and went on to finish the season with 13 games played. Samuels averaged 41.44% from the field and 7.62 rebounds a game.
Heading to Malta will be the Australian’s first professional move across Europe.
Watch: Depiro appoint Dedelioglu as women’s coach
Samuels will now join new Depiro women’s coach Fatih Dedelioglu as the side aims to bounce back after a playoff-less season which sees Depiro make drastic changes to replace Monique Caruana and Hannah Johnson who left the club, and Kelly Koshuta who was not renewed for the season.
