The Maltese Olympic Committee and the 2023 Games of the Small States of Europe Local Organising Committee yesterday unveiled its new official website, 90 days before the opening ceremony.
Developed by The Concept Stadium, the look and feel of the website is in line with the visual identity and Games logo colour palette launched in 2022.
The site has been engineered to be responsive on a variety of devices and window or screen sizes from minimum to maximum display size to ensure usability and satisfaction.
“When we were in discussions with potential service providers, one of the things that stood out from the developers of this website, The Concept Stadium, was the fact that one of its founders – the late Jonathan Chetcuti – had represented Malta three times in previous GSSE editions, as part of the volleyball team,” said Paul Sultana, deputy president of the Maltese Olympic Committee and Games Chef de Mission.
“We are very excited to be launching the Games website as we are getting closer to the opening ceremony. The website will be the central hub revolving around the Games with the latest news, trivia and all official information for fans”
The first phase of the website, revolves around generic information about the Games, Malta, and latest news, imagery and video features, whilst other developments to the website such as Team Malta details, international contingent information, schedule of events, results and medal tables will be rolled out in phases.
“Having a digital presence is imperative to ensure that information is available at the tip of everyone’s fingers. As we launch the first phase of the website, other developments will be carried out to enhance the user experience, as well as an online shop for Games merchandise” said Maria Vella-Galea, Director of Media and PR, Maltese Olympic Committee and Local Organisation Committee Member.
The committee said that the website will become the primary platform for everyone interested in 2023 Games and will be the digital heart-beating of the energy and emotions of the Games, both in the run-up to and actual Games week, with up-to-date information readily available at the tip of everyone’s fingers.
Mark Cutajar, chairman of the Local Organising Committee, expressed his satisfaction at how the organising team has gelled together, bringing various areas of expertise that have become the proverbial pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, that will eventually be the Games.
Sport community
The Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Dr Clifton Grima defined yesterday’s occasion as one that unites the sports community.
“Today is another step, in the right direction of this path where the first phase of the site was launched. Going forward we will look forward to seeing live and hopefully very positive results during the Games next May,” said Dr Grima.
Also present for the launch was Maltese Olympic Committee president Julian Pace Bonello and National Sports School Head Robert Magro.
In a statement, the GSSE Local Organising Committee thanked the National Sports School for hosting yesterday’s event.
