Justin Tellus’ Chesterfield defeated Boreham Wood 3-0 and secured promotion to the Football League after an absence of six seasons.
Chesterfield’s victory earned them the National League title as they are top with 95 points and just five games left.
Barnet and Bromley trail behind but they cannot reach Chesterfield as the Spireites were in league of their own in this 2023/2024 campaign.
After losing out to Jodi Jones’ Notts County in the Wembley play-off final last season, Chesterfield ran rampant, securing their 30th win of the season in 41 outings on Saturday.
Former Birkirkara and Valletta player Tellus joined Chesterfield in 2021 as their Academy Head of Recruitment and Development.
Tellus sees his second promotion at his club in English professional football after Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League in 2020 during his time there.
The Spireites also have a Malta connection through CEO John Croot who lived in Malta as a child when his father was stationed in Malta with the British Forces.
Croot is also the founder of Walking Football and the ambassador for the sport worldwide.
First team assistant coach Danny Webb also made a European appearance in Malta for the same club Tellus captained in the Premier League Marsaxlokk FC, in a UEFA Champions League qualifier against FK Sarajevo in 2007.
