Preparations underway for International Yacht Paints Marzamemi Weekend

The Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) announced its return to the beloved offshore haven of Marzamemi as it gears up for the highly-anticipated International Yacht Paints Marzamemi Weekend scheduled for the first weekend in May.

Marzamemi, being one of the club’s most loved Sicilian haunts, has long been associated with a weekend of socialising, cruising, racing, fun and the simple pleasures of sipping espressos, or mojitos in the city’s scenic piazza.

Scheduled to take place from May 3 to 5, the International Yacht Paints Marzamemi Weekend will consist of two races – one to Marzamemi on the Friday morning and one to Malta on Sunday morning.

Past events have shown that this course offers an exciting test of skill and strategy in offshore waters.

However, the regatta is not only about racing and the club is welcoming a fleet of cruisers, who wish to join in the fun that such weekends bring with them.

“We are delighted to return to Marzamemi for the International Yacht Paints Marzamemi Regatta,” said Adrian Gauci Borda, RMYC Rear Commodore (Sailing).

“This event is not just about the races; it’s about celebrating our shared passion for sailing and fostering a sense of community among sailors from across the region. We look forward to welcoming participants for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of sailing and socialising.”

This year the club has garnered the support of International Yacht Paints, which has been represented in Malta since 1996 by Mac Med Group.

Andrew Magri Overend, Group CEO said: “We’re very enthusiastic that International Paints will once again be supporting a local yacht race through the renewal of our partnership with the Royal Malta Yacht Club.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to excellence in boat care and celebrates the spirit of sailing, whilst showcasing our dedication to support the community’s passion and skill on the water.”
