Former U-20’s international defender joined Swieqi in 2022.
Swieqi United’s defender Rafanny has been called up by Venezuela women’s national team for their upcoming double-header friendlies against Panama.
The Vinotinto will face the Concacaf side on April 5 and April 8 with Rafanny poised to make her international debut under the guidance of Italian coach Pamela Conti, former Azzurre team mate with Malta’s Manuela Tesse.
Rafanny, 27, had already represented Venezuela at U-20’s level, featuring in the 2016 World Cup against Germany, South Korea and Mexico.
The central defender joined Swieqi during the 2022 winter transfer window and after a tricky start to her spell, she quickly established herself as a key player for the Owls.
At Swieqi, she won last season’s Assikura Women’s Knock-Out after beating Hibernians in the final.
She becomes the second Swieqi player to be named by a senior national team after Cynthia Konlan, who was the Owls’ goalkeeper last season, is part of the Ghana’s setup.
At youth level, forward Salamatu Abdulai is part of the Ghana U-20’s national team that qualified to this year’s World Cup.
