Renowned British hockey coach, Mike Irving, visited Malta last week to conduct a coaching clinic for local physical education (PE) teachers and coaches of the sport. Irving participated in a one-day seminar focusing on technique and tactics in the fast-paced game of hockey.
Additionally, he engaged with PE teachers from government schools, highlighting the importance of hockey within their curriculum.
With 30 years of experience in international hockey, particularly in the United Kingdom, Irving currently oversees a group of players at Loughborough University.
Irving boasts 12 years of experience in identifying young talented players and nurturing their potential.
Beyond coaching, Irving is actively involved in educational seminars aimed at increasing the popularity of hockey, both in the UK and internationally.
Notably, he was honoured as the best European coach in the sport and received acclaim for a specialised coaching programme he developed himself.
