Swieqi Phoenix NIUM and Flyers are set to provide a thrilling finale to the volleyball season as the two title rivals emerged victorious from last weekend’s matches from the women’s Super League at the Cottonera Sports Complex.
This year’s title race is on a knife edge as leaders Flyers are holding a one-point advantage over champions Swieqi Phoenix NIUM.
Flyers moved to the top of the standings when they had the better of Falcons 3-1.
On the other hand, Swieqi Phoenix NIUM maintained their winning run when they eased past Paola Executive Security 3-0.
However, Swieqi, under the charge of Leonard Zammit Munro and his assistant Jacques Seifret, are still in control of this year’s title race. They need to beat Birkirkara in Sunday’s final match of the season to reconfirm themselves as champions for the second successive season.
In another Superleague match played on Saturday, Falcons overcame the challenge of Birkirkara 3-1 to remain third in the standings.
