Swieqi Phoenix NIUM retained their status as the top team in Maltese volleyball when they overcame the challenge of Birkirkara 3-0 in their final match of the women’s Super League on Sunday.
Starting the day just one point behind leaders Flyers, the Swieqi side needed to overcome the challenge of Birkirkara if they were to regain top spot in the Super League standings and retain their title crown.
On Sunday, Swieqi, under the charge of Leonard Zammit Munro and his assistant Jacques Seifret, produced a clinical performance to see off Birkirkara 3-0 and retain their status as Malta champions for a second successive season.
In fact, Swieqi have moved top of the standings on 30 points two clear of rivals Flyers.
At the end of the match, Malta Volleyball Association vice-president Branko Vlahovic presented the trophy and medals to the Swieqi Phoenix NIUM players.
