Melita FC have announced the signing of versatile midfielder David Xuereb.
The 26-year-old has agreed terms with the newly-promoted Premier League club and put pen to paper on a one-year deal.
“We are pleased to announce that our first new addition to the side will be the 26 year old versatile midfielder David Xuereb who will be donning our colours in the Premier League next season,” Melita said in a statement.
“A Hibernians product, David brings a wealth of experience with him after spells at Senglea, Żejtun Corinthians and most recently Marsa.
“He made his debut in the Premier League with Hibernians at a young age before moving on Senglea, also in the top division, boasting over 40 appearances in the Premier League. Since then he has established himself as one of the top midfielders in the Challenge League, finishing in third place with Żejtun and Marsa over the last two seasons.
“He also has an eye for goal with three goals a season over the last three seasons.”
Melita have been very active in the past weeks to try and build a competitive squad for the new season.
Last season’s Challenge League champions have managed to secure the future of several key players in their squad.
The club have offered new contracts to midfielder Matthew Debattista, forwards Andre Carlos, Yesus Yepez and Santiago Martinez, defender Henrique Motta as well as midfielder Karl Mohnani.
