Balzan FC confirm the appointment of Dave Rogers as new head coach

Balzan FC have announced the appointment of Dave Rogers as the club’s new head coach on a two-year contract.

The news confirms a story published by the Times of Malta last month that revealed that Rogers would succeed Oliver Spiteri as the new senior team coach.

Spiteri parted ways with the club after his contract expired at the end of last season.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Dave Rogers as our new full time head coach of Balzan FC,” club president Anton Tagliaferro told the Times of Malta.

“Dave will bring leadership and high standards to the role whilst also delivering energy and enthusiasm and creating a real positive environment.

“He has gained an outstanding track record of coaching and managing teams in India, USA and Ireland as well as an impressive and productive record in elite player development.

“Dave has held an array of prestigious coaching positions previously as Liverpool FC International Academy Manager and more recently as the Head Coach of Nottingham Forest FC under 21s.

“We look forward to Dave’s arrival and fully support him in his vision and journey as he embarks to take Balzan FC First Team and our Academy to the levels and professionalism we aim to achieve and strive for.”

On his part, Rogers expressed his delight in being given the chance to lead Balzan in next season’s Premier League and sounded impressed by the club’s facilities.

“I am very proud and honoured to be joining Balzan FC and really looking forward to progressing the club both on and off the pitch and supporting the players, staff and community in striving to achieve their objectives,” Rogers said.

“I have been immensely impressed by the club’s facilities and infrastructure and all my conversations with club president Anton Tagliaferro displayed to me how passionate and dedicated he is in growing and progressing all areas of Balzan FC and especially our values and beliefs in player development and creating a clear and consistent pathway for our Academy players.

“Our vision and principles are aligned with each others and the club’s desire and ambition to lift the standards of both the first team and the Academy is a challenge we aim to embrace and enjoy.”

Rogers said that he is looking forward to use all the football knowledge he learnt in recent years to make sure he helps Balzan reach the objectives they set.

“My objective is to apply and implement a style of play and identity throughout the club, whilst also honing in on the many years of experience I gained as a professional player and also the knowledge and skills I have acquired and learnt as a coach over the past 12 years under some world class managers at some outstanding and successful football clubs both in the Premier League and globally,” Rogers said.

“I can’t wait to start working with the players and the staff and look forward to a successful and productive new era with everyone at the club.”
