Cassar and Attard Pulis take 10K honours in Burmarrad

Clayton Abela and Rosalie Borg Cauchi top 5k leaderboard

Since its inception, the Hudson Race Series Burmarrad edition has shown no signs of losing popularity, once again attracting a sell-out crowd for both the 5km and 10km race routes.

In the 10K race, Dillon Cassar took the lead from the get go, ahead of Charlton Debono, Mark Herrera.

Behind them Aaron Mifsud and Matthew Xuereb where also chasing the podium running neck to neck. Cassar’s lead went on to the finish line to win the race, ahead of Debono and Herrera.

The Ladies race was won by race veteran Josann Attard Pulis.

Close behind was Marija Cumbo who followed Attard Pulis on the podium in second place, whilst third place was taken by Veronika Keryste.

Clayton Abela claimed his first victory in the series when topping the 5K race, finishing seven seconds ahead of James Sciriha.

Jonathan Balzan secured third place, just two seconds behind Sciriha.

In the women’s race, Rosalie Borg Cauchi took the win, with Tara Abdilla and Charyl Fava joining her on the podium after strong performances.

Before the start of the race, race director Charlie Demanuele led a one-minute silence in tribute to 15-year-old Jake Vella, an athlete who sadly passed away last week.

Overall prizes and trophies to the age group winners were presented at the end of the race by Charlie Demanuele who thanked Hudson Group and Nike for their ongoing support towards the Race Series.

He went on to thank Transport Malta, St Paul’s Bay Local Council, officials and volunteers who assisted on the day.

The final race of the 2024 Hudson Race Series will take place on December 8 and will be held in Valletta.
