Malta champions Swieqi Phoenix Nium won the John Bugeja Cup when they overcame the challenge of Birkirkara 3-0.
The John Bugeja Cup is a pre-season competition organised by the Malta Volleyball Association.
Swieqi finished on top of the standings ahead of Paola Executive Security, who last week had also overcame the challenge of Birkirkara.
Meanwhile on Sunday, the First Division championship, organised by the Malta Volleyball Association, got under way when the first matches were played at the Cottonera Sports Complex.
Paola Executive Security, led by coach Michael Magro and his assistant Antonio Borg, were off to a winning start when they beat Swieqi Challengers 3-0.
In the other First Division fixture, Birkirkara Reds had to battle more than expected to overcome the challenge of Depiro 3-2.

U-19 League: Paola Yes 2 Health Fitness Club vs Depiro 3-2; Swieqi Tough Cookies vs BKVC Vixens 3-0.
First Division: Paola Executive Security vs Swieqi Challengers 3-0; BKVC Reds vs Depiro 3-2.
