Champions Swieqi Phoenix Nium were back to winning ways as the women’s Super League continued at the Cottonera Sports Complex last weekend.
The Swieqi side, led by Leonard Zammit Munro, overcame the challenge of Flyers Volleyball Club 3-1.
With this win, Swieqi Phoenix Nium returned to the top of the standings level on nine points with Falcons.
On the other hand, Paola Executive Security, under the charge of coach Michael Magro and his assistant Antonio Borg, maintained their unbeaten record in the First Division.
Last weekend, Paola Executive Security eased past Swieqi Challengers 3-0.
Following this win, Paola Executive Security strengthened their grip on top spot in the standings on 12 points and open a commanding seven-point lead over Birkirkara Reds.
The Paola side look well on course to fulfil their season objective of winning promotion to the top division and are likely to use the remaining matches of the season as a good preparation for next season.
It is likely that the Paola club will introduce some young blood in the team, with the majority of them having come through the club’s youth system.
