A group of 14 young swimmers from the Exiles Sports Club brought home several medals as they swam to personal bests at an event held in the UK.
The team of swimmers aged between 9 and fourteen travelled to Pavillions in the Park, Horsham, UK for the event, led by coaches Tim Hartley and Edward Caruana Dingli and with the support of SportMalta.
Five of the swimmers were competing internationally for the first time. All swimmers swam personal bests or season best times in their events.
Swimmers also brought home nine medals across their age groups, together with ribbons which were awarded for fourth to sixth place finishes in the age 12 and under categories.
Hartley and Caruana Dingli, who coached the swimmers, said they were very satisfied with the team’s results.
“Swimmers had worked hard during the summer and in the run-up to the event and were setting an example for younger upcoming swimmers in their work ethic, performance and behaviour,” they said.
The swimming team is now preparing for the upcoming ASA Short Course National Championships, while the Exiles SC Swimming School is preparing to move all its classes to a new indoor swimming pool at the Mediterranean College of Sport in Birkirkara.
Exiles thanked SportMalta, Welbees Supermarket and Intersport Malta for their assistance in the team’s participation in Horsham.
