Birkirkara have reached an agreement in principle with Floriana FC to sign forward Kemar Reid, sources told the Times of Malta.
The Times of Malta revealed last Sunday that the Stripes were keen to sign the Malta forward. Now, it looks that both Premier League clubs have reached an agreement in principle, and the Jamaican-born forward has also agreed personal terms with Birkirkara.
The capture of Reid is certainly a major boost for Birkirkara. They are bringing in an established goalscorer with a few years of experience in the Maltese Premier League, who will certainly add more firepower to their forward line.
Reid has struggled for minutes this season as he was hampered by a niggling injury that left him out for several weeks.
But the Malta international will be keen to kickstart his season at Birkirkara to not only help the club challenge for the major honours but also to stake his claim for a regular place in the Malta national team, particularly now that a new head coach has been installed.
Reid arrived in Malta in 2016 when he joined Mosta and a year later he moved to Luxol St Andrews where he spent three seasons.
In 2020, he moved to Zejtun Corinthians and then joined Sirens.
In January 2022, he finally made his big move to Floriana where he has been playing for the past two seasons and helped them to win the FA Trophy May 2022.
During his time at Floriana, Reid was awarded a Maltese passport and became a member of the national team, making eight appearances so far.
