Naxxar Lions sign Portuguese defensive midfielder Helder Martins

Naxxar Lions continued to strengthen their ranks with the signing of Portuguese defensive midfielder Helder Martins.

Martins, also known as Laton, started the season in Malta with Birkirkara but struggled to force his way into the team, collecting just one appearance during the Opening Round.

It was no surprise when last month, Birkirkara had announced that they parted ways with the 25-year-old defensive midfielder after less than six months at the club.

Naxxar Lions stepped up their interest in the 25-year-old and offered him the chance to reignite his career in Maltese football and Martins accepted the opportunity to move to the Northerners.

Martins’ arrival at Naxxar Lions continues transfer activity this month as the club have already signed four players.

Apart from Martins, the Lions also brought in Senegalese defender Bacary Sane, Brazilian wingback Maicon, Japanese forward Tara Ndao, and Brazilian defender Joao Moura.
