Joe Bajada, secretary-general of the Malta Cycling Federation, was re-elected for the third consecutive four years term as UCI Voting delegate with 37 votes.
The election was held during the 37th Elective UEC Congress 2025 of the European Union of Cycling at Bratislava, Slovakia.
Over the next four years, Bajada will form part of 15 delegates who will have the right to vote on behalf of the 52 European affiliated countries, during the Annual General Congresses of the International Cycling Federation.
With these 15 European delegates, another 30 delegates from the other four confederations, which are ACC (Asia), COPACI (Pan America), CAC (Africa), and the OCC (Oceania) will join them.
In this year’s election, 29 delegates were nominated from different federations and associations within the UEC, where 15 were elected as Voting Delegates and another eight as substitute delegates.
Due to the UEC statute, the first four women and men were elected and Joe Bajada was one of them.
The other seven candidates with the most votes were: Gilles Da Costa (France), Alejandro Martin Garcia (Spain), Camille Dahm (Luxembourg), Livia Hanesova (Slovakia), Jaroslava Krakovcova (Czech Republic), Umberto Langellotti (Monaco), Krzysztof Golwei (Poland), Toni Zoric (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Walter Baldiserra (San Marino), Alfred Tahiraj (Albania), Vanja Banovic (Montenegro), José Luis Ribeiro (Portugal), Kjersti Storset (Norway), and Martin Wolf (Germany).
During the congress, delegates confirmed the Italian Enrico Della Casa as president for the four-year period 2025-2029 by acclamation.
The members of the UEC Management Board were also elected as vice-presidents, namely Katarina Jakubová (Slovakia), Raivo Rand (Estonia), and Georgios Georgiou (Cyprus), Bernd Dankowski (Germany) as treasurer, and Dafna Lang (Israel) and Sabrina Tsakona Twiss (Greece) as members.
Alasdair MacLennan (Great Britain) was confirmed as the UEC General Secretary.
Another election was for the European UCI Management Committee and the elected members were Rocco Cattaneo (Switzerland), Agata Lang (Poland), Tom Van Damme (Belgium), Michel Callot (France), Serena Danesi (Italy), José Vicioso Soto (Spain), Katerina Nash (Czechia), Henrik Jess Jensen (Denmark), Emin Muftuoglu (Türkiye) and Pavel Mardonovic (Slovenia).
