The 13th meeting of the season consisting of eleven races all for trotters was held on Monday afternoon at the Marsa Racetrack.
The major event was the BOV Tazza l-Kbira Championship semi-final for class Premier trotters on a long distance of 2640 metres. This was won by French Gold Dairpet driven by Gozitan Marco Refalo.
Eleven trotters lined up for the class Premier semifinal.
Eberton (Rodney Gatt) was the fastest horse at first, opening a small lead from The Lion driven Swedish Professional Bjorn Goop and Gold Dairpet (Marco Refalo).
With 400 metres to go Eberton changed its pace and was disqualified. It was Gold Dairpet which took the lead and took its first win in Malta from Favori De Bry (Ludvic Ghigo) and Forban (Roberto Veccione).
Fitzy De Vive (Laura Frendo) was the last trotter to make it to the final stage.
In the normal class Premier race on the card, popular Crack Money (Paul Galea) led all the way and secured its first win of the year easily by two lenghts from Taiga Woodland, which was driven by Italian professional driver Roberto Vecchione and Follow Me Flash (Rodney Gatt).
Favori De L’Iton (Ivan Stivala) ended in fourth place. The winner clocked an impressive time of 1.12.9” per kilometer.
