Doctor linked to Nairo Quintana guilty of doping offences

Colombian doctor Fredy Gonzales Torres was given a six-month suspended sentence and fined 15000 euros by a French court on Wednesday for doping infringements at the 2020 Tour de France.

He was found guilty of possessing an intravenous drip and using it for banned practices on cycling brothers Nairo and Dayer Quintana, who rode for the Arkea Samsic team that year.

The apparatus was discovered when a search was conducted at the Arkea Samsic team hotel on September 16 2020 during the Covid delayed Tour de France.

Neither of the Quintana brothers tested positive for any doping products.

The court also described the doctor as a “Guru like guide” using magnets, nocturnal body rubs with lemon, garlic and coffee while also promoting the use of numerical mantras to be repeated for mental rest.
