Maicon, Marchionna impressed by Gozo’s passion and hospitality during Inter club visit

Maicon and Stefania Marchionna were deeply impressed by the warm welcome and exceptional organization during their visit.

Inter Club Gozo celebrated its 10th anniversary with a series of events, featuring special guests Maicon, the legendary player who achieved the treble with Inter in 2009/2010, and Stefania Marchionna, la madrina dell’Inter 2021.

The highlight of the celebrations was the Gala Dinner on Saturday, May 10, at the Grand Hotel, Mġarr, Gozo, accompanied by a training session for Gozitan U/13 children at Gozo Stadium, led by Maicon himself in collaboration with the Gozo Youth FA.

The Minister for Gozo and Development, Clint Camilleri, also attended the training, where souvenirs commemorating the occasion were exchanged.

Maicon and Marchionna were warmly welcomed during their visits to Inter Gozo and Inter Malta clubs. They also visited the Ta’ Pinu National Sanctuary, where they were received by the Rector, Fr Gerard Buhagiar, and enjoyed a trip exploring various places of interest in the Maltese islands, including Mdina and Valletta.

At the Gala Dinner, open to all attendees, Joe Bajada, President of Inter Gozo, delivered a speech expressing gratitude to Maicon and Stefania for joining in the celebration of the club’s tenth anniversary and their upcoming participation in the Champions League final against Paris St Germain.

Bajada highlighted that the official opening of the Inter Supporters Club in Gozo occurred on September 13, just before the Serie A Milano derby, emphasizing the years of effort that preceded this milestone. He expressed thanks to the Kerċem Festival Arrangements Committee for providing a venue where Gozitan Inter fans could gather to watch matches together.

In closing, Bajada extended appreciation to the sponsors, including Visit Gozo, Visit Malta, Gozo Youth FA, Grand Hotel, Gozo Frank Travel, and other contributors who provided prizes for the lottery. He acknowledged the committee members and other individuals whose efforts and support contributed to the success of Maicon and Marchionna’s first visit to the Maltese islands.
