Gżira United have announced the signing of defensive midfielder Jork Becerra.
“Jork Beccera is a Maroon,” the club said in a statement.
“Colombian box-to-box midfielder Jork Beccera signed a one-year contract with our Club. The 26-year-old last season played for Floriana, and previously he played in Macedonia and also in Colombia.”
The Colombian player is not a new face to Maltese football as he spent the past six months on the books of Floriana FC.
The 26-year-old midfielder made 15 appearances for Floriana and netting two goals. However, at the end of the season, the Greens decided to part ways with the player.
Gżira United, who have brought in former Floriana Technical Director Marlon Galea in their set-up, quickly moved in to bring in the player and an agreement was reached.
The acquisition of Becerra sees Gżira United hold a trio of Colombian midfielders as he joins Luis Riascos, who has been at the club for a couple of years, and new signing Santiago Martinez, who arrived at the club after leaving Melita FC at the end of the season.
