Watch: Ħamrun Spartans sign Italian forward Junior Djile

Ħamrun Spartans have announced the signing of Italian forward Junior Djile.

The 23-year-old forward has agreed personal terms with the Malta champions and is set to play a key part in the team’s UEFA Champions League commitments next month where they face FK Zalgiris.

Djile was born in Brescia and came through the city’s youth ranks before heading to Rezzato, and Valcalepio.

In 2021, Djile left Italy and headed Portugal, where he donned the colours of Portuguese side Farense’s U-23 side.

A year later, he moved to Cyprus, where he donned the colours of Ermis Aradippou, where he made 15 appearances and scored four goals.

In September 2023, Djile was signed by Bulgarian side Botev Vratsa but struggled for first-team football and decided to move to the Middle East, where he joined first Al-Hamriyah and then Dubai City.

Djile become Ħamrun’s third signing following the acquisition of Lithuanian midfielder Domantas Simkus and Argentine-born midfielder Matias Garcia.
