Haley Bugeja’s Inter were drawn to face Norwegian side SK Brann in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The Italian side qualified for UEFA’s prestigious competition when they finished as runners-up in last season’s Serie A Femminile.
Malta international Bugeja and her Inter side were surely hopeful of picking up a favourable draw so that they could remain on course to reaching the group stages of the competition.
Inter were drawn in Group 3, where they will be involved in a semi-final against Norwegian side SK Brann.
Should they successfully negotiate their way into the final, they will meet against the winners of the other semi-final in the group between Valur and Sporting Braga.
The second qualifying round draw also picked the team that could potentially come up against Swieqi United should they defy the odds and win Group 2 of the first qualifying round.
Dorianne Theuma’s girls, who will face Moldovan side Agarista SS in their semi-final tie, will be up against ZKN Mura, of Slovenia, should they finish top of the group.
The second qualifying round tournaments will be played between August 27 and 30.
