Swieqi United will launch their women’s title defense against runners-up Mġarr United as the Malta FA released the sequence of fixtures for the upcoming 2025/2026 Assikura Women’s League, on Friday.

The league will take place over four rounds, meaning each team will have played 20 matches by the end of the season.

The first matchday will take place between August 21 and August 23.

Swieqi and Mġarr will be joined by Birkirkara, Hibernians, San Ġwann and Valletta in this new campaign, while Lija Athletic and Mtarfa – both featuring in last year’s campaign, opting not to participate.

The Owls delivered their maiden women’s league title in 2024/2025, led by former Malta captain Dorianne Theuma on her debut as coach in senior football.

As a result, Swieqi will represent Malta in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with their first qualifier pencilled on July 30 when they face Moldova champions Agarista.
