Gżira United are looking for a new head coach after Clive Mizzi handed in his resignation on Sunday, the Times of Malta can reveal.
Mizzi decided to step down from his job following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Żabbar St Patrick at the Centenary Stadium that left the team second-from-bottom on three points.
The Maroons have been struggling for results as the team has yet to record a win after seven league matches and have only one point to show from their last three matches.
After holding champions Ħamrun Spartans to a goalless draw they suffered identical 2-0 defeats to Sliema Wanderers and Żabbar St Patrick in the last week.
Sources have told the Times of Malta that Mizzi offered his resignation to Gżira United’s top hierarchy, which was accepted by the Premier League club.
Mizzi arrived at the club this summer after leaving Melita FC and despite bringing in several reinforcements, the team failed to perform.
It is understood that Gżira United are already working hard to bring in a new coach ahead of the team’s next Premier League match against Mosta on Thursday.
