Malta women’s national team player Maya Lucia will play at Apollon Ladies, in the Cyprus top-flight during the 2025/2026 season.

She joins Apollon on a one-year deal, with the Cypriot club starting their league campaign with a 4-0 over Olympiakos Nicosia, last weekend.

Last season, Lucia was on the books of Gdansk in the Polish top-flight and has previously played in Italy with Genoa and in Croatia with Split and Osijek.

The former Raiders player was a key member of the Malta women’s selection that clinched a second promotion to League B in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.

Lucia will be the second Maltese player to join Apollon after Rachel Cuschieri. The ex-Birkirkara captain, now on the books of Genoa Women in Serie A, joined Apollon as the first Malta women player to play professional football abroad back in 2014.
