Valletta player Eugene Campbell, Olivia Wilkstrom, of Luxol, and Niksa Živković, who is on the books of Depiro Hoops, are the winners of the BOV Player of the Month for December.
Bank of Valletta’s Chief Operations Officer, Ernest Agius, presented the trophies to the three winners during a short ceremony recently.
Valletta’s 30-year-old guard Eugene Campbell made an immediate impact with a series of strong performances. Across December, the 190cm player averaged 39.37 minutes per game and scored 103 points in three outings, making him the league’s top scorer for the month.
Campbell’s ability to draw 6.67 fouls per game, combined with his athletic play, scoring strength, and oncourt leadership, has firmly established him as one of the division’s standout newcomers.
Valletta coach Harry Savaya accepted the award on behalf of Eugene Campbell who was not available for the presentation.
Luxol’s Olivia Wikström claimed her second BOV Player of the Month award of the season after another dominant set of performances.
Wikström led the league in scoring with 96 points across three games, topped the steals and foulssuffered charts, and added 15 rebounds and 3.70 assists per game.
Her shooting efficiency, 73% from the freethrow line and 48% from threepoint range highlighted her allround influence and her central role in Luxol’s ongoing success.
Depiro Hoops’ Nikša Živković, last season’s BOV Fair Play Award recipient, earned the BOV Amateur League Player of the Month title after delivering consistent and reliable contributions. Živković averaged 16 points per game for a total of 48 across three matches and achieved a 77% success rate from the freethrow line.
His efficiency, composure, and team-first mentality continue to make him an important figure for Depiro Hoops.
In a statement, Bank of Valletta said that “The BOV Player of the Month Awards recognise exceptional performance, sportsmanship, and positive impact on the sport.
“Bank of Valletta remains committed to supporting and developing the Maltese basketball community while celebrating athletes who embody dedication and excellence.”
