The past season marked a significant step in Sebastian Pace’s development, as he moved to Charlotte to compete with Bull City Prep.
Following an earlier spell in Spain, where the Malta U-18 player played for CD Maristas, Pace sought a more demanding and structured environment to elevate his game.
His move to the United States proved to be a pivotal decision in his growth both on and off the court.
Reflecting on the experience, Pace highlighted the intensity of the American system.
“The level of competition, athleticism, and intensity in the US pushed me to improve every day, both physically and mentally,” Pace told Times of Malta.
That environment played a key role in shaping his all-around game.
“Being in that environment helped me develop my overall game, particularly my decision-making, pace, and consistency,” he added.
Throughout the season, Pace focused on making an impact across multiple areas of the game.
While continuing to utilise his scoring ability, he placed equal emphasis on rebounding, playmaking, and adapting to different styles of play – all part of his effort to become a more complete and versatile player.
Alongside his development in the United States, Pace also represented Malta at the FIBA U-18 European Championship Division C.
He delivered an impressive tournament campaign, averaging 15.8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
Notably, he made a strong start, averaging close to 29 points across the opening fixtures.
Overall, the past year has been a crucial milestone in Pace’s journey, as he continues to pursue his ambition of playing basketball at the collegiate level.
His objective remains clear – securing an opportunity within the NCAA, NAIA, or JUCO systems, or alternatively, returning to Europe and continuing to develop at the highest level possible.
This journey has been made possible with the support of the MEYR Malta Scholarship Scheme, funded by the Maltese government.
