Gżira United have reached an agreement to sign Argentine midfielder Jonathan Farias.
The Maroons are expected to make several changes to their foreigners’ line-up ahead of the new season, and Farias becomes the club’s second summer signing following the arrival of Portuguese midfielder Francisco Saldanha.
“Gżira United FC is delighted to announce the signing of 27-year-old Argentine midfielder Jonathan Leonardo Farías ahead of the 2026/27 season,” the club said in a statement.
“Having come through the renowned Boca Juniors Youth Academy, Jonathan has built an impressive career representing clubs in both Argentina and Europe.
“During his professional journey, he has featured for Cercle Brugge (Belgium), Defensa y Justicia, Agropecuario, and Deportivo Español, gaining valuable experience across different competitions and footballing environments.
“A hardworking and technically accomplished midfielder, Jonathan brings quality, intensity, and versatility to the Maroons as we continue strengthening our squad for the season ahead.
“Everyone at Gżira United FC would like to extend a warm welcome to Jonathan and wish him every success in Maroon colours.”
Farias is the latest player to commit to Gżira United’s project as earlier this week defender Marc van de Bovenkamp has agreed to renew his contract for another season.
