Former Roma midfielder Ante Coric is set for another spell at Ħamrun Spartans after reaching an agreement to return with the former Malta champions, the Times of Malta can confirm.
Coric, who joined Italian giants Roma Coric in January 2019 and stayed there for six months, was one of the protagonists in the Ħamrun Spartans squad that secured an historic qualification to the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League last season.
During his time with the Spartans, Coric established himself as an influential figure in the Spartans’ midfield and etched his name in the history of Maltese football when he scored one of the goals that helped the Spartans secure a 3-1 win over Gibraltar side Lincoln Red Imps in the League Phase.
However, Coric’s spell with the Spartans came to an end at the end of 2025 as he was one of the foreign players who decided to seek pastures new.
Still, the Spartans’ top hierarchy holds high esteem for the Croatian attacking midfielder and, in the past few weeks, have managed to convince Coric to return to the club for a second spell.
Sources told Times of Malta that Coric is expected to arrive in Malta on Sunday before joining Giacomo Modica’s squad for pre-season training.
Coric is set to become the Spartans’ second signing this summer after the Reds have agreed terms to acquire the services of former Hibernians forward Lucas Villela.
