Jurgen Degabriele signs new three-year contract at Hibernians FC

Jurgen Degabriele has pledged his future to Hibernians FC as the Malta striker has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract, the Times of Malta can confirm.

The 26-year-old’s contract with the Paolites expired at the end of last season and there has been a lot of speculation on where the prolific forward will be playing in the coming campaign.

During the past months, Degabriele was approached by several Premier League clubs who inquired about his services.

Floriana were one of the clubs who had entered the race to secure the services of Degabriele while Hibernians never lost hope of convincing their youth product to extend his stay at his club.

There was also interest from two Greek Super League clubs who had been impressed by Degabriele’s performance in Malta’s friendly international against Greece last November.

After several weeks of negotiations an agreement was finally reached and on Monday Degabriele signed a new contract, ending all speculation about his future.

Degabriele’s new contract is a major boost for Hibernians and particularly for new coach Branko Nisevic who will be pleased that he will have the opportunity to bank on the 2022 Malta FA Player of the Year.

Since making his senior debut with Hibernians, back in 2014, Degabriele has turned out to be a real goal machine, making a total of 264 appearances with the club and netting 100 goals.

His goals has helped Hibernians to three Premier League titles in 2015, 2017 and 2022.
