Yenz Cini has pledged his future with Valletta FC after the 27-year-old goalkeeper has agreed to a three-year contract, the Premier League club announced.
“Valletta Football Club is pleased to announce the official agreement with goalkeeper Yenz Cini,” the club said in a statement.
“The 27-year-old Valletta born & bred goalkeeper product of Valletta FC Youth Nursery signed a contract with the Citizens for the upcoming three seasons after his existing contract expired at the end of last season.
“New Valletta FC president Alexander Fenech said he is delighted that his first significant signing of his presidency is of a Valletta FC Youth Development Sector product, which underlies the new club strategy of rejuvenating the squad in a bid to build a title-winning side for the coming seasons.
“On behalf of all of us at Valletta FC, we would like to wish Yenz all the best with our Club.”
Cini, who has come through the Valletta academy, has been in talks with Valletta for the past few weeks over a new contract and an agreement was finally reached this week that will see him sign a new contract.
Last season, Cini made eight appearances for Valletta and managed to keep two clean sheets and now that his future has been settled he will look to battle for the no. 1 jersey at his home-town club.
Cini made his first appearance in the Valletta senior squad in 2010 and also had spells with Gudja United, Mosta and St Andrews.
In all, Yenz Cini has made 63 appearances in the Premier League and managed 17 clean sheets.
