Maltese futsal is experiencing an intensive and exciting week as three teams finished their commitments at the top of the table at the end of the regular season.
In fact Luxol, Swieqi and Valletta confirmed their good form of late as they obtained the points that mattered in their respective encounters.
Luxol’s win over Ta’ Xbiex saw them join Valletta and Swieqi at the top of the standings with 29 points each.
As a result, according to Article 35 of the competition regulations was triggered and a decider to determine the direct finalist is needed.
The decider will be played this Monday between Valletta and Luxol. The winner will go directly to the final of June 25 while the losing team will face Swieqi in a semi final on June 23.
In a top-of-the-table clash, Luxol and Swieqi shared the spoils in an entertaining 4-4 draw. It was a match full of emotions as Swieqi struck ahead but the local champions fought back.
Swieqi were on target through Aaron Montebello, Eduardo Riano, Steven Camilleri and an own-goal.
On their part, Marwan Telisi, Mark Zammit, Gia Nikhashvili and Dylan Musu were on target for Luxol.
Valletta Futsal maintained their pace as they saw off Naxxar Lions 9-1. Camilo was inspirational for the Citizens as he netted a hat-trick while Otero and George Frendo had a brace each. Zvezdan Vukovic and Ryan Gatt completed the rout for Valletta.
Luxol were in action also on Saturday as they trounced Ta’ Xbiex 7-0. The final scoreline showed the dominance of the champions as they netted their goals through Giancarlo Sammut (2), Leanderson, Celino Alves, Everton Veve, Matthew Attard and Mark Zammit.
In other matches, Mellieħa Futsal had the better of Qormi 6-3 while University of Malta beat Ta’ Xbiex 5-2.
Finally St George’s Futsal beat Marsaskala 7-6 in an evenly contested match.
