The 30th Jubilee edition of the Malta Open came to a close at the Eden SuperBowl on Sunday.

The tournament was open to all bowlers who are members of National Bowling Associations or Federations, both locally and abroad and consisted of 12 qualifying games after which the final knockout stages were played.

A total of 47 competitors from 14 countries battled it out for the trophy this year but in the end, England’s Steven Jeeves emerged victorious.

Jeeves is no stranger to victory, having also won previous major tournaments abroad such as the French Senior Open and the Dutch Senior Open. The other finalist in this year’s final was Mark Jacobs, hailing from the Netherlands.

The grand final saw Jacobs gaining the advantage in the first game. Jeeves secured his win with a massive lead in the second game for a final score of 484.

“This year’s Malta Open was very successful with strong competitors and close results that left everyone excited for the faceoff in the grand final.

Having cancelled last year’s Malta Open due to the pandemic, this year we made an extra effort to ensure everyone was bowling in a safe environment. We had all the necessary COVID-19 measures in place and ended up with a successful event as a result,” Dejan Cosic, General Manager at Eden SuperBowl said.
