Maltese champions Luxol St Andrews Futsal Club are undergoing their final preparations ahead of their European commitments in the Preliminary Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League.
Luxol St Andrews were drawn in Group A alongside Cefn Druids, of Wales, Dolphins Ashdod, of Israel and Macedonia champions KMF Proekt. The tournament will be played at the Sport Hall “26-ti April” in Gevgelija, North Macedonia.
Luxol start their commitments on August 21 against Cefn Druids before taking on Dolphins Ashdod the following day.
The Maltese side will wrap up their commitments on August 24 against hosts KMF Proekt.
Led by coach Gabriel Dobre, the Violets are conducting their final training sessions in Malta before flying to Macedonia as they look to secure their place in the Main Round of the competition.
Over the past few days, the team underwent some intense training. There are some notable returns in the Luxol St Andrews squad, namely Norwegian goalkeeper Kenneth Rakvaag, fellow custodian Clint Mifsud, who returned following a brief spell with Valletta.
Melvin Borg also joined the ranks from Valletta together with another newcomer, former Malta international football player, Dale Camilleri.
All these acquisitions will instill more power to a side already strong with players encompassing the likes of Mark Zammit, Celino Alves, Everton Veve, and Emil Andrei all possessing the right attributes to compete at this lofty Futsal level.
