Satariano to lead Malta’s attack as Mangia makes five changes against Slovenia

Malta coach Devis Mangia has rang the changes for this evening’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia on Saturday, with five players given the nod to start in Ljubljana (kick-off: 6pm), the Times of Malta can confirm.

The national team is heading into the match in high spirits following their impressive 3-0 win over Cyprus at the National Stadium that lifted the team on the four-point mark in Group H, level with the same Slovenians.

On Friday, Mangia, the Malta national teams’ head coach, had hinted that he could be set to make a few changes from the team that performed so well against the Cypriots and the Italian coach has decided to draft in fresh energy for Saturday’s match.

Zach Muscat, who plies his trade in Portugal with Casa Pia, was included in a three-man defence alongside Enrico Pepe and Kurt Shaw who are likely to retain their place from Wednesday’s match.

Valletta midfielder Triston Caruana starts in midfield along with his club team-mate Shaun Dimech as Mangia is looking to add more solidity to his team’s engine room while Juan Corbalan will take his place in the right wing back role.

Upfront, Alexander Satariano starts at the tip of Malta’s forward line after the Frosinone forward was a second-half substitute against Cyprus.
