The 2020-21 hockey season will resume on Saturday when all competitions continue after the campaign had to be halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Hockey Association Executive Committee, following consultation with all the clubs, has opted to conclude the COVID-interrupted season for both seniors and juniors.
There are four matches left from the second round and the whole third round to be played so that the National League will be concluded.
At the end of the National League, the Knock Out competition and the Super Cup will be played.
The Hockey Association of Malta is aiming to start the 2021-22 season next January.
Despite great organisational issues and various other difficulties resulting from the pandemic, the Hockey Association has sent the national team to Portugal for the Euro Hockey Championships Challenge lll.
At the same time, the local governing body continued it’s maintenance work at the Corradino Hockey Centre.
HAM president, Gordon Mifsud, was full of praise for all those who have worked hard on the facilities. He also thanked the clubs for their cooperation with the national team, for their efforts to keep the club nurseries active and for the support they gave to resume competitions.
The season will resume with an U-18 match between Qormi Daikin and Gree Sliema Hotsticks on Saturday.
On Sunday there will be two games from the Senior League: Rabat vs Qormi Daikin and Young Stars vs Gree Sliema Hotsticks.
