Luxol St Andrews and Valletta started the season brightly as they scored high-scoring victories on Match Day One of the Enemed National Futsal League.
Both teams are considered as firm favourites for the championship.
Luxol didn’t find any difficulty to see off Naxxar Futsal 10-0.
Mark Zammit, Andy Mangion and Maicon helped themselves to a hat-trick while Carl Azzopardi, Celino Alves, Melvin Borg and Hebberth Bolt also put their names on the scoresheet.
Valletta too had a dominant 11-0 win over Marsaskala.
Zvezdan Vukovic and Karl Sciortino scored a hat-trick while Aaron Montebello notched a brace. On the other hand, Luke Gatt, Rodney Debono and Steven Camilleri were also on the mark for the Citizens.
Ta’ Xbiex Futsal, on their second year of participation, managed to register an 8-1 scoreline against Żurrieq Futsal.
The winners were determined to get the three points as veteran striker Glenn Bonello was in inspirational form after notching a hat-trick with Stefi Cale helping himself with a brace.
Meanwhile Jonathan Caruana, Dexter O’Brien and Nigel Borg also hit the target.
University of Malta had a comfortable 4-0 win over debutants Siġġiewi. Bruno Fernandes was twice on target for the UOM while Dale Valletta and Dylan Mintoff completed the score for their team.
Mellieħa opened their account for season 2021/22 with a good win against a mighty St Georges side.
The Northerners finally won this encounter 5-2.
Nippy striker Ervin Rigo was three times on the mark while Dusan Petrovic and Gregory Busuttil were also on target.
St George’s scored their two goals through Ivan Jovanovic and Matthew Scicluna.
