Virus, Joe Hoo Lee and Juvels Boy triumph in Premier class races

The three most important races during Sunday’s 44th meeting of the season were class Premier races on a long distance of 2640m. These races were won by Virus, Joe Hoo Lee and Juvels Boy. Sunday’s programme consisted of nine races all for trotters

Under the guidance of Michael Ellul, French favourite Virus gained its second win in a row in the first class Premier race after increasing its pace in the final metres.

Virus triumphed by a length from Baladin Du Reynard (Kurt Saliba). Castle Rose, driven for the first time by Noel Baldacchino ended in third place from Bastingage (Herman McKay).

In the second class Premier race, Joe Hoo Lee (Matthew Sammut) sealed its third win of the year after it managed to sustain the challenge of Valseme (Jason Zahra) in the final metres. Casanova Du Corta (Cliferty Calleja) and Exceed GT (Clint Vassallo) followed home in that order.

Juvels Boy (Cailin Borg) registered its first win in Malta in the third and last race from the same category.

Borg’s Swedish trotter past the finishing post first easily by three lengths from Antoine Du Bourg which on Sunday was driven by owner Peter Agius. Caid De Bengale (Ivan Stivala) and Andante (Jeffrey Scerri) also obtained a good place.

Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack and which includes the 2021 edition of the President’s Cup final will be held today. The first race should start at 1pm.

Rave 3. Class Gold. Dist – 2640m. 1. And Stitch (Gilmour Azzopardi) – 1.17.1”

Race 4. Class Bronze. Dist – 2640m. 1. Fast Cash SF (Redent Magro) – 1.18.4”

Race 5. Class Premier. Dist – 2640m. 1. Virus (Michael Ellul) – 1.14.8”

Race 6. Class Premier. Dist – 2640m. 1. Joe Hoo Lee (Matthew Sammut) – 1.15.6”

Race 7. Class Silver. Dist – 2640m. 1. Joyus (Paul Galea) – 1.16.5”)

Race 8. Class Premier. Dist – 2640m. 1. Juvels Boy (Caillin Borg) – 1.15.1”

Race 9. Class Bronze. Dist – 2640m. 1. Festin d’Avenir (Dylan Baldacchino) – 1.18.2”
