A few days before their direct clash, title contenders Valletta and Luxol managed to grab three important points in the Enemed Futsal League as another round of matches was played at the National Sports School Pavillion.
Luxol registered a mammoth 18-0 win over Marsaskala Futsal.
The St Andrews side dominated this match from start to finish and had their player Andy Mangion who helped himself to four goals. Their captain Mark Zammit scored a hat-trick while Carl Azzopardi, Marwan Telisi and Everton Veve hit the target twice. On the other hand, Celino Alves, Dylan Musu, Maicon, Emil Raducu and Melvin Borg completed the score for their team.
Valletta didn’t find the going easy against Ta’ Xbiex Futsal after edging their opponents 4-3. The Citizens had Karl Sciortino who scored a brace while Andre Cachia and Zvezdan Vukovic also put their names on the scoresheet.
Ta’ Xbiex, who were always on the ball, had Jason Gauci who netted a brace with Stefi Cale scoring another one.
Mellieħa maintained their good patch this season as they saw off Siġġiewi 4-2. The Northerners had Gregory Busuttil in fine form after scoring a hat-trick with Andrew Abela also on the mark.
Siġġiewi, who had their positive moments, scored their consolation goals through Juan Sebastian Poveda and Wallace.
Naxxar Lions obtained a precious 10-2 win over Qormi to start the year on a positive note.
John Micallef scored a hat-trick, Valen Petrie McKay and Matthew Camilleri grabbed a brace with Jose Pereira, Luke Gatt and Antoine Barbara also on the mark.
Craig Pickard scored Qormi’s two goals.
St George’s edged Żurrieq 5-4 in an entertaining encounter. It was a match full of emotions with both sets of players giving their all in a very balanced affair.
Clayton Micallef notched a brace while Leon Camilleri, Faisal Alnakuo and Charvon Gatt were also on target for the Cottonera side.
Boycho Marev, Daniel Abdilla, Gabriel Ghigo and Terence Cachia found the net for Żurrieq.
