Malta international Giancarlo Sammut has joined French Division One side Kingersheim Futsal, ending his stint in the Polish League with Team Lebork with the move announced on Sunday.
Sammut, a regular part of the Malta futsal national team, is the first local player in the sport to ply his trade professionally overseas, leaves the Polish side in mid-table, level on 17 points with Legia Warsaw, and joins Kingersheim who are currently in need of a spark as they stand in the penultimate spot of the French league after eight games.
The former Luxol player is set to be back with the National team in April as Malta takes on Norway, Denmark and Cyprus in the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers.
