Pietá Hotspurs vs San Ġwann expected to go ahead
The Malta FA announced that four games from today’s FA Trophy fixtures, a Women’s League fixture, and a National Youth League Section C game are being postponed because of the bad weather.
The decision to postpone these games was amid safety concerns caused by the inclement weather and warnings of gale-force winds, the Malta FA said.
The Maltese football governing body said it has taken this decision to ensure the safety of the general public, the players, and staff following the necessary consultations.
Balzan vs Birkirkara, Hibernians vs Kerċem Ajax, Gudja United vs Sirens and Valletta vs Ħamrun Spartans from the last 16 of the FA Trophy have all been called off and are expected to be played on another date.
Meanwhile, Pietá Hotspurs vs San Ġwann is expected to go ahead as the two teams will face each other at the Victor Tedesco Stadium (kick-off: 19.30).
Moreover, Mtarfa vs Mġarr United from the Women’s League, who had to face each other at the Sirens Stadium, was also postponed together with Pembroke Athleta vs Gżira United from the National Youth League.
The Malta FA said that it will be assessing the weather conditions day by day and may take decisions to reschedule more games in the coming days.
