Could make debut against Ħamrun Spartans
Floriana FC have signed Cape Verde striker Willis Furtado, the Premier League side have announced.
“We’re thrilled to introduce Willis Furtado, our dynamic new signing. The Frenchman is a talented winger with speed, flair, and goal-scoring ability which are set to ignite the pitch for Floriana FC,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“Join us in extending a warm welcome to Willis Furtado as he embarks on a new chapter with the Greens!”
Furtado arrived in Malta on Tuesday and attended his first training sessions with Mauro Camoranesi’s team ahead of this weekend’s big clash against Malta champions Ħamrun Spartans.
The forward will be hoping to make his debut in the top-of-the-table clash where the Greens hope to preserve their advantage over the Spartans.
Furtado is a 26-year-old striker who also holds French citizenship and has played in various clubs around Europe.
In fact, after starting with US Ivry, in France, he headed to Scotland where he played with Stenhousemuir, Aidrieonians and Raith Rovers.
In 2018, he headed to Egypt where he played for two years with FC Masr.
In January 2021, Furtado moved to Norway where he donned the colours of Jerv before moving to Finnish club FC KTP.
In the past season he made 21 appearances in the Finnish Veikkausliiga, scoring six goals and providing two assists.
