The Malta Volleyball Association season continued this weekend with two very important matches from the women’s Super League in the Cottonera Sports Complex last weekend.
In the opening match, Flyers eased past bottom side Paola Executive Security 3-0 while in the second match of the day champions Swieqi Phoenix NIUM overcame the challenge of Birkirkara with an identical scoreline.
Following these results, Swieqi Phoenix NIUM consolidated their place at the top of the standings on 20 points after seven matches.
The Swieqi side have been the dominant force in the championship as they have won all seven matches played.
Flyers moved up to second in the standings on 12 points from six matches.
Falcons are in third place with 10 points, followed by Birkirkara with five points with Paola Executive Security at the bottom of the standings with four points.
The volleyball competitions will now take a week break and will resume on the weekend of February 17 and 18 with matches from First Division and the National Cup.
In Division One, Mġarr Volley will face Depiro while BKVC Reds take on Paola Yes2Health Fitness.
There will also be two matches from the National Cup when BKVC face Falcons while Paola Executive Security and Swieqi Phoenix NIUM.
