Floriana FC part ways with De Grazia, Furtado and Rovas

Floriana have decided to release Cape Verde forward Willis Furtado.

Floriana FC have parted ways with midfielder Lorenzo De Grazia and forwards Willis Furtado and Christos Rovas, the Premier League club have announced.

The Greens are coming from a mixed campaign in the Premier League as while they managed to secure a return to European football, the club missed out on winning any silver after placing second in the Premier League to Ħamrun Spartans and then lost the Trophy final to Old Firm rivals Sliema Wanderers.

In the past week, the Floriana FC top hierarchy started to work on the new season and decided to part ways with coach Mauro Camoranesi.

The Greens have now appointed Darren Abdilla as the new coach and the club’s technical staff have started to line up new plans for the new season.

In a statement, Floriana announced that they have decided against extending the contracts of midfielder Lorenzo De Grazia, winger Furtado and forward Rovas.

“Floriana F.C would like to thank midfielder Lorenzo De Grazia, winger Willis Furtado and striker Christos Rovas for their contribution to the team as the club will not extend the contractual relationship with the trio of foreign players.

“We wish them all the best of luck for their future and professional footballing career.”

Floriana’s decision to part ways with Furtado is somewhat surprising given that the Cape Verde forward had a positive impact at the club since his arrival during the January transfer window.

In fact, he managed to score eight goals in the Premier League to help his team maintain their dual challenge in both the championship and the FA Trophy.

On the other hand, De Grazia has been at Floriana for the past two seasons while Rovas arrived at the club in January and scored two goals in the Premier League.
