Hibernians FC have agreed a deal to sign defender Dexter Xuereb, the Premier League club announced.
The Paolites are looking to rejuvenate their squad in a bid to put behind them a poor 2023-24 campaign which saw the team not only fail to challenge for a major domestic honour but also miss out on European football.
Hibernians, under the charge of Branko Nisevic, are looking to bring in fresh blood to the club and have targeted Xuereb as a perfect signing for the club.
Xuereb has been on the books of Sta Lucia for the past few seasons and is looking to revitalise his career with a move to a top club.
Hibernians approached the player and offered him a contract and both parties soon came to an agreement which saw Xuereb putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.
For Xuereb, Hibernians will be his fourth club in the Premier League. He started his career with Mosta before moving to Gżira United and Santa Lucia.
Xuereb is likely to be the first of a raft of signings from the Paolites who have already lost the services of experienced defender Ferdinando Apap who has agreed to rejoin his former club Victoria Hotspurs.
