The 31st meeting, consisting of ten races all for trotters, was held on Sunday evening at the Marsa Racetrack.
The programme included three finals for French trotters. These were the Prix De Vincennes for class Premier trotters, the Prix De Cabourg for class Silver trotters and the Prix De Cagnes Sur Mer for class Bronze trotters.
These finals were all held on a short distance of 2140m.
There was really a keen tussle between three trotters in the final metres of the class Premier final. It was Espoir D’Elphigny (Rodney Gatt) that managed to seal its third win in a row after sustaining the challenge of Iron De Ginai (Charles Degiorgio) and Dreamer Boy (Paul Galea).
Disco D’Occagnes (Noel Baldacchino) ended in fourth place from Diablo D’Herfraie (Jesmar Gafa’). The winner clocked an average time of 1.13.6” per kilometer.
Egerie Du Puy (Paul Galea) registered its first win in Malta in Prix De Cabourg final for class Silver trotters. Galea’s trotter triumphed easily by two lengths from Diamant Du Ruel (Jesmar Gafa’) which ended second and from Hanouchka (Cherise Farrugia) and Half Tege (Patrick Spiteri) which ended both in third place.
Exo Des Louanges (Clint Vassallo) followed home in that order.
Falkanor (Cherise Farrugia) gained its second win of the year in the Prix De Cagnes Sur Mer final for class Bronze trotters.
This French trotter took the lead midway through the final straight and past the finishing post first from favourite Imperial Du Stade (Rodney Gatt), Haquitin (Noel Baldacchino), Emeraude De Bougy (Paul Galea) and Islandais (Jesmar Gafa’).
The 2024 season will resume in October.
