Record entry for 10th edition of Sette Giugno Marina di Ragusa Cruise

It has also been confirmed that a record entry of 48 boats will be participating in the 10th edition of this year’s  Falken Tyres Sette Giugno Marina di Ragusa Cruise to be held between Thursday and Sunday.

These new dates were decided upon because of the European and Local Council Elections that were held on June 8.

Falken Tyres Europe, and their local agents Standard Tyres and Accessories Ltd, are again title-sponsors of this event.

Falken Tyres have widened their involvement in sports sponsorship, particularly in team sport, by creating great opportunity to raise their brand awareness. 

The name is today associated with international handball, top class football, basketball,  and with highly competitive motorsport/motorcycle teams.

The Porto Turistico Marina di Ragusa are again partly sponsoring the participating boats

with their three nights stay in the 700-berth Marina, the Sicilian end port destination of the cruise.

Like all cruising enthusiasts, participants in this Malta to Sicily crossing enjoy the adventure and fun of sailing to a foreign destination at their own pace, facing the countless challenges and extensive rewards of such undertakings.

Since its introduction in 2013 the 97nm Sette Giugno Cruise has always had an interesting approach to its start.

Here the organisers have each boat leave Malta at its cruising speed. This means that if a boat cruises at six and a half knots, it will leave at 6:30am, a boat that cruises at seven knots leaves at 7am and so forth.

Such a procedure should have participating boats within sight of each other for most of the trip where all boats should arrive at the Sicilian end between two and three in the afternoon or thereabouts.

Two main activities on the four-day programme in Sicily will be the Falken Tyres Dinner where the official sponsors will be hosting skippers, crew and their families to a traditional Sicilian fish dinner and a visit to Gli Aromi, a very interesting herbs farm situated in the open countryside between the towns of Vittoria and Scicli. 

The farm produces more than 150 different varieties of plants and aromatic herbs, using traditional
methods.
