Viva Malta, Malta’s National Offshore sailing team, racing on the Cookson 50, continued its international offshore racing commitments at the 73rd Loro Piana Giraglia Race, securing a third-place finish in the ORC O Class.
The team, co-skippered by Andrew Agius Delicata and Nicky Sammut with boat captain Ramon Sant Hill and crew Matthew Agius Delicata, Kevin Anastasi, Sean Borg, Luke Camenzuli, Christian Fenech, Daniel Fenech, Matthew Gabriele, Alex Gauci and Patrick Genovese, navigated another challenging Mediterranean offshore race.
The Giraglia is known for its unpredictable conditions and competitive fleet, making the class result a solid achievement for the team. Viva Malta’s performance reflects months of preparation and the cohesion developed across the crew.
“The atmosphere throughout the entire event was unparalleled, and the team bonded not only as sailors but as friends,” said co-skipper Andrew Agius Delicata.
“I cannot express how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to sail with each and every person on board, and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a single thing. We look forward to many more opportunities of this kind.”
The team now turns its attention to the Palermo to Monte Carlo race, scheduled for August 18-23.
Viva Malta is supported by Sport Malta, the Malta Sailing Federation and Yachting Malta.
